Bellydance /
Fusion
Bellydance is a beautiful style with a rich and complex history. Different styles of Bellydance can be found all over the world, and every country has their own style, their own way of approaching the movement and the music.
Also frequently lumped into the "Bellydance" heading are many of the dances of the Romani Trail, and several fusion styles.
My style of Bellydance blends American Cabaret, elements of Folkloric and Oriental styles from Egypt, as well as some Lebanese and Romani influences.
My Fusion style, while it contains some of the sharp, articulate pops and locks of Tribal Fusion, is neither ATS/ITS based, nor the Tribal Fusion style popularized by Jill Parker and Rachel Brice/The Indigo.
I find this to be an important distinction, because often when people say they dance Fusion it is assumed they mean Tribal Fusion, which brings to mind a specific look, style of costuming, music, and posture. However, that style is not the majority of my training.
I blend my bellydance training with the other styles of dance I've trained in to create my own vocabulary, so I simply call it Bellydance Fusion, not Tribal Fusion. (Plug any of these terms into Youtube for more examples of the styles.)

Take A Class
I currently only teach weekly Bellydance classes to the public through Contra Costa College. At only $46 for a full semester of dance classes, this is by far the best bang for your training buck. Also, the college environment allows for a more serious study of the dance, including rhythm identification, folkloric dances by region, and students writing a research paper on a Golden Age Egyptian dancer, or specific regional style.
If you are unavailable to take the CCC classes, please consider private lessons, or booking me for a workshop!
Love Letters
"I had done choreo for years, but I didn't truly *dance* until your classes, Cera. You got the magic." - Ashley Coover
"Hey Cera, I wanted to take a moment again to thank you for what it seems is always being there right when I need to hear what it is you are there to share. This week in my performance class I found my Cera voice ...infact when I heard myself speaking I found myself thinking "wow was that really me"! I was able to speak with love and authority to my dancers... It was amazing... they all just took it, accepted it no wierd vibes and we moved on. Thank you Cera for giving me what I needed this weekend to be able to speak as I did." - Nicci, Tha Fae Bellydance
"Hey Cera. I'm back at home ready to work on everything you said in class... Thank you for give me hope and inspiration. There was a quote you say yesterday will stay with me - "You may not be a great dancer, but you can be a great human being" Love." - Perla Rosales
